When I was working at Ankr, one of the key projects I spearheaded was creating a content calendar to streamline and optimize our content strategy. This involved extensive keyword research, SEO analysis, and identifying content gaps that we needed to fill.
After compiling a comprehensive database of topic ideas for blog posts in notion including: social media content, landing pages, and more, I assigned articles to writers and set deadlines. In a collaborative team meeting, we discussed writers’ preferences and divided the workload, ensuring all content gaps were systematically addressed. To keep everything organized, I created a Notion database with multiple views and filtering options. This allowed us to sort content by writer, type (blog, social, page), and status (backlog, in-progress, scheduled, published). Tagging and metadata fields provided extra organization.
The dynamic content calendar served as our command center. It gave full visibility into what was being worked on, by whom, and when content would go live. Advanced filters let us analyze things like which writers had capacity for more and who was working on what. Most importantly, the calendar allowed us to target keywords our competitors were ranking for. We quickly plugged content gaps and ran the content creation system to become industry leaders teaching developers on all sorts of different blockchains how to use the RPC product (Ankr’s main product) in order to pull information from the blockchain. This data-driven content strategy directly improved our organic traffic and marketing ROI over time, averaging a 10% month over month increase in organic traffic to the blog.
The view above gives a good depiction of the content calendar. It’s not the direct notion pages, but accurately shows the different views that the system was capable of utilizing. You can see what the finished blog looks here: http://ankr.com/blog
Here’s an improved version of that section:
As shown in the image on the left, we conducted extensive keyword research and website analysis to categorize our blog content strategically. This allowed us to target high-value areas and fill content gaps efficiently.
We organized posts into sections covering specific blockchain networks like BNB Chain, Fantom, Avalanche, Polkadot, Polygon, and Ethereum. We also had dedicated categories for Ankr’s various products and solution categories to provide educational content.
When initially launching the restructured blog, there were many holes in our strategy that needed addressing. So we mapped out an editorial matrix assigning team members to “own” coverage of particular networks, products, and activities.
Through this divide-and-conquer approach, we systematically filled the content pipeline. Our goal was to create a comprehensive educational resource – no matter what blockchain or Ankr solution developers were interested in, they could easily find tutorials, announcements, release notes, and more on our blog.
The categorized, well-rounded content strategy allowed us to rank highly for valuable keywords and drive targeted organic traffic. Users could navigate our knowledge base with ease, learning how to leverage any Ankr product across all the major blockchain ecosystems. This significantly improved content discoverability and the user experience.
